Bridges for a Just Community

Having received a grant for capacity building from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Bridges for a Just Community (formerly the National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Cincinnati) engaged Smith Beers Yunker & Company to guide the development committee in completing a development plan designed to help the organization grow.

Heading the Smith Beers Yunker team was Cincinnati Managing Director Becky Sittason, CFRE. Following a comprehensive assessment of Bridges’ fundraising history and potential, the team recommended specific strategies and the hiring of a full-time fundraising staff member. “The Smith Beers Yunker team brought to us a thorough understanding of the philanthropic landscape,” says Executive Director Robert “Chip” Harrod.

While it searched for the full-time professional, the firm provided interim management of the development process. “Becky Sittason proved to be a much-appreciated task master, keeping us on track in implementing our ideas. Her approach was very businesslike, but personable, and the other Smith Beers Yunker team members exhibited a great deal of respect for our staff and for each other.”

“One of the things I appreciate most about Smith Beers Yunker,” continues Harrod, “is the fact that their values are consonant with ours. We didn’t have to translate anything for them, as they instinctively understood our programming goals and our role in the community. I would like to have more help from Smith Beers Yunker.”
