Director of Development

About the Position 

Cancer Family Care seeks a highly-motivated individual to manage and lead the agency's development efforts. Cancer Family Care (CFC) is a widely respected, nonprofit human service agency with 5 offices that serve children, adults, and families coping with cancer in eight counties of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community. The Director of Development plays an essential role in the agency's leadership team.

 

The Director of Development provides the key leadership to secure philanthropic support at all levels, and establish the framework for and execute all fundraising activities. Responsibilities include: 

  • Defining and prioritizing fundraising goals, and the strategies to achieve these goals
  • Planning and managing all aspects of fundraising including major gifts, direct mail, foundation and corporate grants, and two special events
  • Strengthening relationships with current donors to expand donor investment
  • Identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects at all levels
  • Overseeing database management and production of donor metrics and analytical reports
  • Working strategically and collaboratively with staff to enhance and expand community investment
  • Leading the agency's marketing/outreach effort
  • Creating and directing a continuum of donor stewardship that involves staff and volunteers

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum 5 years professional development/fundraising or related experience. Successful applicants will be those enabled by a small work environment, and who understand the critical need for regular and effective internal and external communications. Attention to detail, project management skills, flexibility, creativity, self-direction and a passion for excellence are key traits. The qualified candidate will have a proven track record of achieving goals. Knowledge of fundraising software will be helpful. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director.
