Since 2005, Smith Beers Yunker & Company has provided a variety of counseling services to LADD, Inc. (Living Arrangements for the Developmentally Disabled), including assistance in recruiting a director of development/marketing.
According to Executive Director David Robinson, the targeted search service was one he found to be very helpful and something he would recommend to others who are in the process of hiring high level employees. “I was very glad we asked Smith Beers Yunker to help us,” says David, “as it saved me a great deal of time and also resulted in our finding an excellent director of development.”
David explains that a unique component of their process was the use of ProfileXT®, an assessment tool of Profiles International, measuring how well an individual fits the specific requirements of the position. “We completed the profile from the employer’s perspective to help determine the important attributes of the person we were seeking. Then, once we had identified the most promising candidate, the profile was completed by the candidate. This helped assure us of getting the best possible match. I appreciate having the opportunity to use this tool, as I believe it’s something we can expand upon and use in the future as part of our hiring process.”
David also notes that LADD’s new director of development agrees that the search process was completed in a very systematic, organized way. He believes a strong, professional approach such as this can be a contributing factor in a person’s decision to accept a high-level position. “It’s also very worthwhile to get an objective opinion from a third party who is familiar with the organization,” adds David.
“Working with Smith Beers Yunker is always a good experience. With this particular project, I appreciated their flexibility in allowing us to adjust some aspects of the process to meet our individual needs. Everything was done in a timely manner and the entire process was very helpful to us as it resulted in our successfully filling a very important position. It’s certainly something I would do again.” |
