ReSource is an organization that provides donated office furnishings and equipment to nonprofits and also hosts monthly educational sessions for leaders of small-to-midsize nonprofits interested in capacity building. These training sessions enable executive directors, board members and development staff to benefit from the knowledge and experience of professionals on a variety of management and fundraising topics.
When Smith Beers Yunker Senior Consultant Penny Pensak and Cincinnati Managing Director Becky Sittason teamed up for a ReSource presentation on the role of development, they received high praise from attendees. Evaluated on a scale of one to five, the duo received fives across the board from enthusiastic participants who shared comments such as… “exceeded my expectations, and I have high expectations”…“very professional and knowledgeable”…“ well-prepared and informative”… and “would recommend this training to others.”
According to ReSource Executive Director Molly Lohr, Penny and Becky were “both very impressive and made a dynamic team. They exhibited a high level of professionalism and connected well with a diverse audience who had varying levels of experience and knowledge.” The topics covered in the session included the role of a development director, the importance of a development plan, and the formula for success in establishing a development department.
Commenting further on the experience, Molly Lohr noted that there is always an element of the unknown when she signs up presenters with whom she has not worked before. “It’s always a positive experience when the presenters are good and, in this case, they were ‘knock-outs.’ I would love to have them return.” |
