Wesley Services Organization

Through its subsidiaries (Lincoln Crawford and Wesley Community Services) Wesley Services Organization operates a nursing home and offers services and assistance that enable Cincinnati seniors to continue living in their own homes. The need for a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization into the future led to an executive search facilitated by Smith Beers Yunker & Company.

Following a successful recruitment and hiring decision, board chair Dan Heyd, partner at the law firm of Graydon Head, commented on the process, saying, “Being volunteers with limited time, our board members were pleased that Smith Beers Yunker enabled us to maximize efficiency without sacrificing quality. In other words, they helped us get the job done quickly and correctly.”

Dan went on to comment on the approach that was taken. “Jim Yunker was very adept at giving us what we needed without interjecting his own opinions into the process. He provided us with facts and data to allow us to make our own decisions; however, he did offer recommendations when asked.”

After accepting the position as CEO, successful candidate Stephanie Tunison described the process as “thorough and professional. Although it was a lengthy process,” she says, “the steps were well defined and I was never left to wonder what was happening. All my questions were answered and all the bases were covered. It was well done.”

Also involved in the search was WSO board member Bob Schilling, partner at Champlin Architecture. He commented on the need for sensitivity and a very logical approach with board members who were apprehensive about making a big change. “Jim was an extremely good listener,” says Bob. “This was my first experience with such a process and I was pleased that Smith Beers Yunker conducted it in such a clear and orderly manner. They made our job easy.”
